Atlanta , Georgia

Michele “Chele” Elizabeth Cooper of Tucker, Georgia passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 10, 2024 at the age of 54 years old. She was born in Decatur, Georgia to Forrest Myers, Sr. and the late Mary Jane Bryant. Michele was grounded in her native Atlanta roots, growing up in the Druid Hills Community. She attended Fernbank Elementary School (Class of 1982), Druid Hills High School, (Class of 1987) and graduated from the Cosmetology Program at Dekalb Technical College in 1989.
Michele followed in her Mom’s footsteps when it came to finding her inner peace and glory in gardening and nature. She found contentment with her hands in the dirt, her head in the sun and her heart with nature. With a sense of enjoyment, accomplishment and probably some frustration at times, Chele looked forward to the seasonal transformations and the coming and going of the pollinators. Her interest in birdwatching began in childhood; she was quite versed in bird calls, their favorite feed, antics and spring arrival time.
Her husband and their boys were her life. Being a Mom was what brought Michele the most joy. As a family, they “hit the road” whenever school and work could be set aside, enjoying the many adventures of camping trips from Grayton Beach to the North Georgia Mountains. Michele loved cookouts, chaperoning Carson and Charlie’s scout outings and activities, enjoying a good book and driving the golf cart while Greg and the boys played a round of golf. She kept up with the boys through school and sports, treasuring everything family life brought her way. Chele never met a stranger. She was adored by friends/family throughout their neighborhood and the clientele she built in her 30+ year career as a hairdresser. Her zest for life was contagious among everyone who crossed her path.
Michele is survived by Greg, her husband of almost 29 years, their sons Carson and Charlie, her father, Forrest Sr.(Judy) of Marietta, Georgia, her brother Forrest Jr. of Auburn, Georgia and sister, Tricia of Centennial, Colorado and many more extended family members. She was the favorite in the family to our late dog Sampson, our newly adopted rescue dog Kruz, and cats Daisy and George.
A Celebration of Life for Michele will be held from 11am-2pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Stone Mountain Park. Details to follow in March. Those who wish to remember Chele in a special way can make donations in her memory to NetWorks Cooperative Ministry in Tucker, Georgia where she volunteered to serve those experiencing crisis and in need of food assistance.

Sending prayers and light to your family. My deepest condolences. Michele was a bright light and I always enjoyed talking with her and walking around the neighborhood with her. She will be greatly missed. She was so proud of her boys and cared deeply for her family (including her pets). Michele hade a wonderful impact on this world and I am so happy that I had and opportunity to get to know her. ❤️
