Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

As we look out on this sunny day filled with Spring flowers it reminds us that Mitchell is now in an eternity of Spring. We give thanks to God that He let Mitchell touch so many lives and we can only pray that you all will continue to feel Mitchell’s love for as long as you are here on earth. We have the assurance that you will see him in that most special of homes and in the meantime may God’s love sustain you when you think you can’t go on. You all are precious to so many and especially to us.
    With much love,
    Jim and Sue

  45. There is nothing anyone can say to make this tragic loss better. People try. No greater loss then a loss of a child, speaking from experience, may I say, no set limit for grieving. Trust in God, he will get you through this, I promise. Your son was a beautiful boy, he is now sleeping with the angels. There are no answers for this tragic loss, but know that some day you will see him again.
    My sincere condolences. .

  51. I hope that you feel God’s presence as he holds you and your family in his arms. So many are praying that your sorrow will be replaced by peace knowing that Mitchell lives on filled with joy and love.

  52. Mitch was such a kind, gentle, thoughtful, polite young boy when we had contact with him and know he grew to be the same in a young man. Glad we had the opportunity to help turn your eyes toward The Lord. You will be missed immensely by your wonderful parents and loving sisters and all the people who crossed your short life! Rest in the arms of our heavenly Father!

  56. Shannon,
Beth Gresham Harlin just told me about your loss. I am so extremely sorry and want to send my heartfelt condolences your way.
I am hoping for God to give you and your family the comfort you need during this time.
    Susan Beckwith Smith

  57. Christopher and Mitchell had a chance to reconnect when Christopher began working at the Georgia Theater in the fall and transferred to UGA this past semester. Our family saw Mitchell as he was working in “The Place” as the sous chef. According to Chris, Mitch really loved his job and was at a happy place in his life. Christopher had finally found a friend in Athens who “spoke his language” as they shared the trials and tribulations of life. He will be sorely missed.

As a parent, I have no humanly comforting words. I can only imagine the pain of the hole left behind in your family. As believers, we know the Truth and the promise of Heaven and for this I am gratefully reminded. May Mitchell rest in the arms of the One perfectly loving, forgiving God, our Creator. And may your family be comforted by the Word of God.
    Most sincerely, The Rogero Family

  64. Oh set me up with the spirit in the sky
That’s where I’m gonna go when I die,
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that’s the best,
When I lay me down to die
Goin’ up to the spirit in the sky

  73. I was so sorry to hear of Mitch’s death. I have many wonderful memories of the short time I knew him. He joined the drama class I taught at PCA half way through the year, and he was such a wonderful addition to that class. He made us laugh every day. He was so clever, so quick, so delightful. We enjoyed him so much. He is remembered.

  74. To Shannon, Baron, Hope, Lilly – I pass by your house every day and see Mitchell waving and sharing a friendly smile while he is cutting the grass. I see him standing by the mailbox and on time waiting for me to pick him up for school. I will think of him and you all every time I drive by. Our hearts ache but we know he is sharing his smile with our Lord in heaven. We love you all and are here always. May God bless you all forever! Love. Tom and Skinner family
