Molly Evelyn Wittmann, 86, of Loganville, Georgia, died on November 16, 2024 after a long illness. Molly enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family, and eating good food (especially fried chicken). She loved others deeply and is loved by many. Molly was a resident of “The Pearl” in Loganville and was loved by all who worked and cared for her while she resided there. Prior to moving there she was an active resident at “The Villa’s” retirement community in Grayson, Georgia.
Molly was born in Lakeland, Georgia on May 21, 1938. She moved to the Atlanta area in early adulthood, and finally to Decatur, GA where she settled down and raised her family. Molly worked at independent bookstores owned in conjunction with her first husband Tommy Newell before going to work for Sears Corporation at Columbia Mall. Molly worked at Sears, eventually transferring to Gwinnett Place Mall, until she retired in 2000. She received many awards and recognitions throughout her time there, something she was very proud of. After retirement, she continued to gather with friends from her time at Sears until she was no longer able to do so.
Molly is preceded in death by first husband Tommy Newell, second husband Joseph Wittmann, son Ken Newell, granddaughter Kathryn Roberts Moore, and grandson Jeremy Lloyd.
She is survived by her children: son and daughter-in-law James and Deborah Newell, daughter Peggy Salter, and daughter-in-law Jackie Newell. Her grandchildren: Patricia and Joshua Williams, Jennifer and Michael Brown, Evelyn and Joe Griffin, Sara and Tim Rausch, James Roberts, Jerry Roberts, and Ryan and Jeri Lloyd. She is survived by her great-grandchildren: Aurora (Roberts), Aubrey, Alena, Alexander, Arilynn, and Archer Williams; Mitch Brown; Jonathan and Eliza Griffin; Lucille, William, and Tristan Rausch; Evalyn and Jonah Roberts; Gillian, Alexander, and Abigail Lloyd.
