Myrtle Hogsed Stroud, 73, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away at her residence on August 2, 2014, following a heroicbattle with cancer. Born on February 20, 1941 to Hamilton and Celia (Myers) Hogsed. Myrtle was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her. Myrtle was predeceased by husband, John Bruce Stroud, her parents and five brothers and five sisters. Survivors include her five children, son and daughter-in-law Leon and Myra Collins of Braselton; daughter Donna Smallwood of Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law Tony and Michelle Smallwood of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law Angela and Marc Campbell of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Anthony King of Cornelia; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Pearl Wilson of Lula and many cherished in-laws, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. At Myrtle’s request there will be no formal service at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that those who wish to honor Myrtle consider making a memorial donation to: Friends of the Smokies, P.O. Box 1660, Kodak, TN 37764. Cades Cove held a special place in her heart and brought her so much joy each time she visited.
