Nelly Ann Barton, age 83, of Avondale Estates went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2017. She is preceded in death by husband Dan Barton, son Jay Robert Hitt, and grandson Noah Tinsley Hitt.She is survived by her children Kathy Ann Schultz and husband Steve Schultz, John Hitt, Jerry Hitt, and Julie Culpepper and husband Alan Culpepper. She has 9 grandchildren and 8 great children. Family will receive friends from 4-8pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Wages and Sons Funeral Directors Stone Mountain Chapel, 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain, GA 30086. A memorial Service will be held at the same location at 11 AM on December 9, 2017.

  1. Dearest Kathy and Steve (and all the grandchildren)…..Just heard this sad news from Sam today and wanted to get in touch with you and share your sorrow over the death of your Mother Nell. Only met her once, but was so impressed with her grace and humor.

    Nell was the first person I met in Avondale when we moved in 3 years ago. She was a lovely neighbor and friend, so kind and interested in others. We will miss her wit and kindness in the neighborhood!
