Ollie Lee Barnett, 91, resident of Stone Mountain GA for over 50 years passed away Friday December, 2 2016. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Ollie joined the U.S. Air Force, retired after 20 years of honorable service. After his distinguished military career he was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Stone Mountain GA. Ollie was a proud Master Mason of the Stone Mountain Masonic lodge 449 for over 50 years. Also, a member of Yaarab Temple Atlanta GA Loganville Club. Ollie is survived by his wife of 68 years Macy Chastain Barnett, both are originally from Anderson South Carolina. Also survived by his daughter Shirley Lee Barnett Cox of Conyers GA, his grandson Wilton W Cox "Rick" of Brandon FL, his granddaughter Macy Aaron Cox LeGood, her husband Simon LeGood, and two great-grandchildren Dane and Layla of Marietta GA, also close friend Louis Dilello. Ollie was preceded in death by his parents Flora Mae Clay Barnett and John Arthur Barnett, two sisters, Burlee Barnett Pruitt and Francis Barnett Spivey with many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at Wages and Sons funeral home 1040 Main Street in Stone Mountain GA 30083 on Thursday between 5:00pm and 7:00pm. Chapel Services will be held on Friday at 2:00pm at Wages and Sons Funeral Home with graveside military honors.

  1. I will miss my Great Uncle Ollie he could always make me smile. From his bear hugs to playing Santa for many years he knew how to make you feel loved. He will clearly be my Guardian Angel my prayers to Aunt Macy and Shirley and Rick and Aaron also Simon and Dane and Layla God be with us all through this time and wrap your arms around us love to all my family

  4. I still remember him as Uncle Ollie to this day. He always was a joy to be around when family came to visit Mema Barnett. Macy and Shirley both you and Ollie’s family are in my prayers. He was a good man and served his country well. I loved him like he was my uncle and I will miss him too. God bless you and be close to you. Love and prayers to his family.

  5. Uncle Ollie was such a great man!!! He was so great with his family and friends!!! He always wore a smile on his face and a song in his heart!!! He gave 100 percent to his family, friends, his country and his career!!!! He was a great Santa!!! We will miss him and we love him dearly!!! Go rest high on that mountain!!!
