Obituary
Patricia (Patty) Honea, 85, went home to the Lord on January 27th 2025.
Patty was born to John Haynie Sr and Daisy Hewitt Haynie in Atlanta, Ga, on September 25, 1939. She was the 4th child of their 8 children. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, her brother Charlie Haynie, her sisters Ann Harrison and Billie Jean Clotfelter, and a host of other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
As a child she grew up in Stone Mountain with her brothers and sisters. She graduated high school at Stone Mountain Highschool. Whereafter, she was married to Jack Honea. They had 3 children and lived together in Pensacola, Florida. She later lived in Stone Mountain with her children where they grew up near family and friends. She enjoyed her work at Emory University Rehab Center and retired from there.
Her favorite place to be was the beach and the white sand and sun always had her heart. She frequently took her children, grandchildren, and then great grandchildren to the beach yearly where they also gained a love for it. A cherished tradition that continues.
She is survived by her children, Jack Honea Jr, Leesha Jay (Scott Jay), and Micheal Honea. Also by her siblings Brenda Carroll (Ronald Carroll), Sally Adams (David Adams), Cheryl Mixson (Frank Mixson), and John Haynie Jr. Her host of grandchildren Jamie LaMarque (Nicholas LaMarque), Jessica Sells (Austin Sells), Mackenzie Jay, Brandon Honea, and Miranda Cavitt (David Cavitt), Brent Jay (Kate Jay), Justin Jay (Vickie Jay), A’miya Marks and great grandchildren Kelby, Jaxton, Serena, Finn, Millie, and Charlie.
Her life and legacy will live on through her family who she loved so fiercely. She loved spending any moments with all of them whether it be at home enjoying a southern cooked meal, holidays, vacations to the beach, or family reunions. Her biggest model of life was “family is everything”. She constantly reminded all of us how lucky we are to have each other and to care for one another. Her energy and spunk will be something that will live on through her family for many generations.
