Patsy Susan (Thompson) Reeves

patsy reeves

Patsy Susan (Thompson) Reeves passed away on May 22, 2023 after a long battle with breast cancer, which lead to heart failure. She was born on March 16, 1956 in Scottdale, GA. Daughter of parents Robert Lee Thompson (1915-1973) and Hancel Magdalene Thompson (nee Dunnaway, 1926-1991). She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John A. Reeves, Jr. (Jack) her children Amber Rouse and Brett Reeves and her grandchildren Zachary and Madelyn Rouse.

Patsy was born to care for children. Her first job out of school was working at a hospital in the newborn nursery where she cared for the babies. After a brief courtship she married her husband Jack not long after she left school and within two years had their daughter Amber, followed by their son Brett 5 years later. Along with caring for their children, she also worked as a preschool teacher for many years at Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church in Tucker, GA. She was a favorite teacher to many of the kids, and forever will be known as Ms. Patsy from her time there.

She has always loved the fun things – like driving sports cars, listening to rock music, and watching scary movies. She also loved playing card games and going out for lunch daily with her husband Jack, weekly get togethers with her best friend since childhood, Diane, and monthly get togethers with the neighborhood Lunch Ladies, including their annual Halloween outing where they all dressed up as witches.

She kept her sense of humor until the end, referring to the red telephone in her hospital room as the ‘bat phone’.

She is already sorely missed by the long list of family, friends and felines she has left behind, but we’re comforted in knowing that she’s in a place now where she can roll down the window of her sports car, turn up the music, toss her long flowing hair in the wind and take a deep breath easily.
