Mrs. Peggy M. Ivey, age 79 of Stone Mountain, GA went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday July 29, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Addie Lee Merritt, one daughter, four sisters and one brother. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Ivey of Stone Mountain; daughters, Kim (Steve) Fowler, Lawrenceville; Kelli Catanach, Woodstock; Krista Ivey (Sara Collier), Stone Mountain; sons, Kenneth (Jill) Ivey, Kirk (Towina) Ivey, all of Loganville; sisters Dorothy Brown, Olivia Fowler, Bettie (Bobby) Wilson, eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews cousins and other family. Funeral Services will be held Friday August 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Wages & Sons Funeral Home with Brother Bob Howard and Lonnie Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday July 31st from 2:00 until 4:00 pm and 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel.

I know this because only a truly special and wonderful lady could raise children that are as kind and giving as the Ivey family. I can see how special she was in all her children. Your family has always treated my family like part of your own and for this I am grateful. I am deeply sadden for your family and are praying for all of you in this time of need. You may have lost the physical part of your mother but know she lives on forever in all of you. Heaven has gained a wonderful angle.

I loved Peggy and still remember years ago when we were all at Bethel Baptist Church and I stood by her each Sunday in choir. I loved hearing her sing “Come Morning” those are sweet memories. I trust with all my heart that I will see her again one day and we’ll all be singing and praising God there too.
