Dorothy Gresham Prater, 89, died Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Snellville, Georgia. Born in Tallahassee, Florida, she was raised at the St. Marks Lighthouse, along with five sisters and two brothers. She graduated as valedictorian in 1941 from Crawfordville High School and from FSU in 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmo Prater, son Lamar Prater, and great-grandson Trey Jones. She is survived by daughters Phyllis Wansley and Carol Loveless of Gwinnett County; sons-in law Doug Wansley and Garry Loveless; grandchildren Travis Kotler, Sarah Loveless Jones, and Mary Loveless; four great-grandchildren, Felix and Isaac Kotler, Cole Loveless, and Kate Jones. She is also survived by two sisters: Edna Lambert of Tallahassee, Florida, and Marion Patronis of Monticello, Florida. She was an active member of Snellville First Baptist Church and past member of Scott Blvd. Baptist in Decatur, where she taught children's Sunday School for many years. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all. Visitation will be at Wages Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, Georgia, on Saturday, May 25 at 2:00, followed by a memorial service at 2:30. Flowers are accepted or contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
