Chattanooga, Tennessee

Winterville, Georgia
Reba Doss Morris passed away peacefully on the morning of November 11, 2021 at Avery Place in Winterville, GA.
Reba was born with her twin brother Robert on June 4, 1937, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They were the youngest of five siblings and remained close throughout their lives. Their father had his own shoe repair business, and their mother was a homemaker and part-time assistant in the shoe shop. Reba graduated from Rossville High School in 1955, the same year that her father died suddenly of a stroke.
After high school, Reba lived with her mother in Rossville and worked for Interstate Insurance until she married Jack Morris in 1964 and moved to Atlanta. They had thirty-three years of a profoundly happy and harmonious life together. Reba was an infinitely loving mother, a devoted wife, a gifted homemaker, and a true friend to all who knew her well. She was adept at many crafts, including sewing, needlework, gardening, dried flower arranging, cooking, and almost any creative project she put her hands and mind to. She loved children and dogs with all her heart.
She had a strong faith and chose the Lutheran church as the perfect fit for our family. She and Jack were active members of St. James Lutheran Church in Norcross, GA. After Jack died in 1998, Reba moved to Athens to be close to her only child, Nancy. They began attending Holy Cross Lutheran together. In 2003, Reba got the chance to become a doting grandmother and spent many happy days loving and caring for her grandson, Anthony.
Reba was preceded in death by her husband, Jack. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Heiges; her son-in-law, Mark Heiges; and her grandson, Anthony Heiges. We miss her with all our hearts, but we are grateful for the precious memories we have of our time together on this earth.
Funeral services will be held at Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Stone Mountain, GA on Sunday, November 14, at 2:30 p.m., with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Reba will be interred next to her husband at Crest Lawn Cemetery in Atlanta. A memorial service will be held at her home church, Holy Cross Lutheran, in Athens, GA, at a date and time to be announced later.
