Born in: Douglas, Georgia
Resided in: Grayson, Georgia

Regina Cheryl Lott Halvorsen, age 53, passed away peacefully at her home on November 11, 2022. She was born October 1, 1969 in Douglas, Georgia to Jerry Lott and Deborah Lott Patton. She was married to Jay Halvorsen and had two loving sons, Riley and Jack Halvorsen.

Regina was a devoted mother who cherished her two boys. She was always present in their lives, from planning elaborate birthday parties, working with them on homework, participating with them in boy scouts, to taking them on trips exploring the world. Regina was a role model for them on how to work hard and be respectful and kind to others.

Her other passion was teaching. Regina received a masters in education from Georgia State and worked over ten years as a special education teacher at Lovin Elementary in Gwinnett County. She loved her co-workers and was willing to go above and beyond to help her teaching team and to make sure her students got the best education possible. She worked tirelessly with her students, parents and colleagues to make a difference in their lives.

Regina’s favorite thing to do in the classroom was to introduce her children to the love of books. She read to them all the time and any downtime she made sure they had a book in their hands. She has collected many classic books for children and would like to see more books in all school libraries. So, in lieu of flowers, please donate books to the Lovin Elementary library in her honor.

Regina was a bright beacon of light, love, and laughter to all those fortunate enough to have experienced her creative, generous, and loving spirit. Her love lives on in each of us who were touched by her magic.

Proverbs 31:26
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”
