In loving memory of Richard Nelson Chafin, 90, a loving husband and devoted father of 6, cherished grandfather of 16 and proud great-grandfather of 20. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Mary Rosalie Chafin; children Rita Kelley (Chris), Barry Chafin (Deneen), Rene Wellman, Craig Chafin (Teresa) , Eric Chafin (Tina), Daryl Chafin (Lora); grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard’s life was marked by service, both to his country and his community. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1954-1957, exemplifying dedication and patriotism. Throughout his career, Richard made significant contributions as the Regional Director of the Railroad Retirement Board (1961-1990), as well as in his roles at Bob Wood Realty (1991-2002) and Chafin Communities (2002-2009), leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with.

Richard’s passion for sports, particularly basketball, was evident to all who knew him. His athleticism on the court was matched only by his sportsmanship and leadership.

Beyond his professional achievements and athletic prowess, Richard was a pillar of his community, known for his unwavering faith and commitment to his church serving as associate pastor. He touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and compassionate spirit. Richard’s legacy of love, integrity, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.

Sunday, April 28th at 11:00 AM.
