Rust, Robert (Alan) Rust, 29 years old. Survived by parents Ruth and Bob Rust, Sister, Jennifer Rust, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and beloved dog Dixie. Alan grew up in Gwinnett Co. GA, attended Shiloh HS and graduated with a History degree from Georgia State University. He loved sports and played baseball at the high school and college level. Alan was also an avid golfer. Among many things, he was a loving son and brother, great friend and a person who could put a smile on anyone’s face. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Wages and Sons Stone Mountain Chapel with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00 pm. A reception will follow at Stone Mountain Masonic Lodge #449 located at 840 VFW Drive Stone Mountain, GA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The First Tee of Atlanta 1053 Cascade Circle SW Atlanta, GA 30311.

    I am so sincerely sorry for your loss. I work for Sequoia Golf and when my husband (a Golf Course Superintendent) and I (also a Shiloh Grad) heard about Alan, we were devastated. Several people who worked directly with Alan have expressed what a wonderful man he was. I do hope your heart finds peace in this terrible time.

I was the Head Golf Professional at Smoke Rise Country Club when your son and brother walked in with that great big smile of his, and said “I think I would like to work here” I still think that HAS to be the greatest opening line for anyone applying for a job. He always made me smile, and I am sure you already know this, but would do anything you asked, and never once complained. I am truly sorry for your loss, and your family is in my prayers.   70. Alan was a constant in the lives of our boys. He was genuine, a gentleman and a loyal friend.I know you are so proud of the man he had become.It seems he left his smile on every heart he met. I called you Bob when I got the invitation in the mail for the golf tournament hosted by you in Alan’s name. Our hearts are broken.
