Robert Martin Dick, 76 of Lawrenceville, Georgia, born in Talladega, AL and raised in Clay County, AL. He graduated from Bibb Graves High School class of 1966. After high school he started college at Auburn University before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1969, completing basic training and AIT at Fort Jackson, SC, he served in the Vietnam War. After returning home from his tour, Robert continued to serve in the Alabama National Guard. Robert served his country for over 24 years, 3 months in active duty.

After the war, Robert returned to complete his education at Auburn University. Robert started his career as an Engineer with the State of Alabama Department of Transportation. Some of Robert’s major projects were the building of Interstate 20 to the Georgia state line and Interstate 65 from Birmingham to Montgomery. Robert then went to work for Alabama Power, a Southern Company where he retired in 2008.

Linda Iler Dick, wife of nearly 17 years, Lawrenceville, GA; brother, Charles Weldon Dick, Dothan, AL; step-daughters, Belynda Anne Johnson, Lawrenceville, GA; Janice Neese-Higgins, Fayetteville, TN; Wanda Lynn Johnson and beloved son-in-law, Randy Johnson, Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Rachael DeAnne Johnson, Lawrenceville, GA; Robert Christopher Matt, Bethlehem, GA; Brittany Raye Neese, Lawrenceville, GA; Austin Lee Neese, Buford, GA; great-grandson, Zander Kyle Matt, Bethlehem, GA. Robert leaves behind his faithful companions his white German shepherd, Rambo and favorite cat, Callie. Several cousins, other family members and friends that became family.

  8. Robert was definitely one of the good guys and will be deeply missed by all his cousins. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was fun to be around. We spent many hours together , growing up in Clay County and I have many cherished memories. My deepest sympathy to Linda and all those who loved him

  9. My thoughts and prayers are with Linda, Wanda, Ann, Randy, and Rachael today as they say goodbye to Robert. He was a special man and will be missed by so many. I am grateful to Robert for lifting up Linda so many years ago, and making her happy. I remember he was always smiling, always positive! Robert is with our Heavenly Father today and free from pain. He will live in on our hearts and memories. My love to you all.
