Robert Vernon Simonds

Robert Vernon Simonds, a beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away on August 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and boundless enthusiasm for life. Born on April 27, 1952, Robert was a proud graduate of East Atlanta High School and a dedicated member of the National Guard.

Robert’s life was a tapestry of varied passions and talents. His love for collectibles, skydiving, and travel reflected his adventurous spirit and zest for discovery. An entrepreneur, mechanic, and handyman, he approached each challenge with resourcefulness and a dry sense of humor, making friends wherever he went and never meeting a stranger.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Paul Simonds; his mother, Barbara Barber; and his sister, Rita Grisham. He is survived by his devoted wife, Hua Lu; his children, Kevin Simonds, Kerry Simonds (DeAnna), and Kelly Lewis (James); and his beloved grandchildren, Alice Lewis, Violet Simonds, Max Simonds, and Cricket Simonds. Robert is also survived by his siblings, Judy Andrews (Doug), Casey Barber (Kristi), and Jimmy Simonds, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robert’s generosity and loving nature were felt deeply by his family and friends. His ability to brighten a room with his humor and his steadfast support of those he loved will be sorely missed.

A memorial service celebrating Robert’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wagesandsons.com.
