Ronald Dale Whited, Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 9, 2024, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, just shy of his 78th birthday. Born on August 30, 1946, in Nashville, Tennessee, Ronnie lived a life full of love, generosity, and hard work, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Ronnie was a former member of the Free and Accepted Masons and was deeply connected to his community. He had a lifelong passion for golf, spending every Sunday at the Sugar Hill Golf Club, where he found joy on the greens. An avid racing enthusiast, Ronnie also loved the thrill of car racing.
As the proud owner of Ronnie Whited Drywall, he was a dedicated and hardworking drywall contractor who built a successful business through his determination and skill. He was as generous as he was hardworking, always going above and beyond for his family, employees, and those in need. His employees fondly remember the thoughtful Christmas gifts he provided each year, and he was known to sponsor children and families during the holidays, ensuring that everyone had something special to celebrate.
Ronnie was a man of deep faith, having been raised Baptist. He had a big heart and an even bigger smile, qualities that endeared him to everyone he met. His love for his family was boundless. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren, sharing his wisdom and teaching them about life and what truly mattered.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles William Whited and Emma Mae Ash Estes, and his brothers James Ray Whited, Marvin Edward Whited, and Carl Whited. Ronnie is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Whited; his daughter, Darlene Sweatt (Dave); his son, Ronnie Whited, Jr. (Julie); his grandchildren, Shelley Foster, Jaret Sweatt, Allie Whited, and Jacob Sweatt; his great-grandchild, Brooks Foster; his brother, Charles W. Whited, Jr. (Betty); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the clubhouse at The Falls of Braselton subdivision, 2451 Fisk Falls Drive, Braselton, GA 30517.
Ronnie was a man who loved deeply, worked tirelessly, and gave generously. He made those around him feel safe, cared for, and cherished. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
One of my favorite pictures of me as a child was me in Uncle Ronnie’s dragster when I was about 4 or 5. Weekends spent at the Commerce Dragstrip are some of my favorite memories. He was a great man, and one of my Dad’s closest friends. Even before I was born. I love to hear him tell stories about the shop at Gloster, or trips to tracks to race “white lightening”. Thanks for the memories that still bring a smile, 35 years later. Sending love and prayers to the whole family.
Darlene-
I am so sorry so your family. I know how hard it is to lose a father. Just remember one day at a time. It doesn’t stop hurting right away. It will. Just be ready to take time to heal. Let your family and friends help you.
I will be here for you –
Lynn❤️
