Sandra Hutchins Lawson passed away at the age of 77 in Bogart, Georgia on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Sandra was born on December 2, 1944, in Duluth, Georgia to John and Syble Hutchins. She grew up in Lawrenceville, Georgia and was a 1963 graduate of Central Gwinnett High School, where she played basketball and was Miss Central. She made lifelong best friends and memories from her time growing up on Culver Street. She lived in Jackson, Mississippi for over forty years, where she was an accountant for an oil company and maintained a magazine-worthy home and yard. She prepared dinners that could rival any gourmet chef. Sandra was the life of the party; she was always up for a good laugh or prank and was always beautifully dressed to the nines while doing so. After retirement, she developed a passion for golf. She was a worthy opponent to men and women who had played for years, winning a few tournaments. Sandra was an avid lover of Scotties and Westies, and her dogs were her babies and were treated like royalty. She rescued her last dog, and though he wasn’t a Scottie or Westie, he was appropriately named Baby Boy, as he was her very last fur baby. While all her Scotties and Westies have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and were anxiously waiting for her arrival, Baby Boy now continues his pampered life with her sister, Janice.
Sandra loved her cousins and brother-in-law like siblings and her nieces and nephews like they were her own children. Her sister, Janice, was loyally by her side through many fun and difficult times and made sure that she had the best care until the very end.
We are so thankful for the friends and family that checked in on Sandra and visited her when she moved back to Georgia. She treasured each card, call, and visit.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, John and Syble Hutchins; sister, Mary Ann Housley; nephew, William (Chip) Housley, Jr.; and other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her sister, Janice Hutchins Norton (Dennis); nephews, John Housley (Chris) and Michael Norton (fiancée Amy Arnold); niece, Allison Norton Wolfe (Derrick);great-niece, Abigail Wolfe; uncle, William (Bill) House; cousins, Chip Young and Laura Harrison.
A reception celebrating Sandra will be held July 9, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy in Lawrenceville Georgia. Family and friends are invited for cocktails and appetizers and to share memories of Sandra.

Our condolences to the family. We’re so sorry for your loss. Sandra will be missed.
Janice, I am so very sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Sandra that well but I enjoyed watching her play basketball and always thought she was so beautiful. May you find comfort and peace knowing she is pain free and dancing in those streets of gold.
Dear Janice
I fondly remember your sister and her visits to our home in Savannah. As it happens she died on my Dad’s birthday and I know he welcomed her to heaven. When I say may she rest in peace, I am very sincere as I know the ravages of that awful disease and what it stole from my Mom. You are in my prayers. Betsy
I was so sorry to hear that Sandra passed away. She was a great friend in our school days. I always thought she was so beautiful. She will be missed by all who loved her. May she rest in peace.
Janice, I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful sister. I am unable to attend the reception celebration tomorrow but my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, as well as all of Sandra’s many friends, especially our Culver Street gang! My fondest remembrance of Sandra was when she would call me “Joboy”, a nickname my Father gave me. I have so many wonderful memories of growing up with Sandra.
Much love,
Jo (Cheek) Kennedy
