Scott David Norwood

Scott David Norwood, 56, of Suwanee, GA and loving husband to Tammy A. Norwood unexpectedly but peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Scott was born in Bethlehem, PA to David W. and Gail A. (Tierney) Norwood. Scott was a loving, caring and humble man who positively influenced many in his working and social life.

He graduated from Freedom High School in 1983 where he played baritone in the marching band which participated in the 1983 Rose Bowl parade. Scott entered the United States Air Force in 1983, where he served as a Refueling Maintenance Mechanic for eight years. Scott’s military career covered service at the Air Force bases of Seymour Johnson NC, Myrtle Beach SC and Lindsey Wiesbaden Germany serving with 1st Combat Communications Group.

After his discharge from the US Armed Forces in 1990, Scott studied Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University. In 2018 he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Liberty University. Scott focused his career on field service engineering with several businesses. His heart favored both employment opportunities with Immucor, Inc. (2000-2013) and Beckman Coulter, Inc Life Sciences as a Senior Field Service Engineer in the Automation Division (2013-current). Scott mostly loved the “job” of Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Social Fox Brewing, Norcross, GA. One could find him in the taproom raising a pint and talking with customers about beer and the science behind it, giving tours of the brewhouse to anyone who expressed interest, or in the brewhouse tinkering with the equipment and creating recipes for future brews.

Scott pursued many hobbies and interests including a deep love for the caring of animals. He had a variety of pets through the years that included a tarantula, a snake, cats, and dogs. Scott was most passionate about ice hockey, as a player in various men’s recreational leagues and as a referee. In 2008 Scott met Tammy, they were wed on February 2, 2012. During their years together, they shared many travel adventures and a love of photography. Together the spent a generous portion of their time riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle and sharing many rides with their Loafin’ Riders Motorcycle Group. Scott had earned Iron Butt Association accolades of The Saddlesore 1000 and The Bun Burner 1500. Scott enjoyed all things with wheels, including building and racing his own car. Tammy shared in Scott’s passion for ice hockey and were faithful members of the Atlanta Gladiators family. Scott’s most recent contribution to the world of ice hockey was as a founding member of the Atlanta Warriors Hockey Association, a group dedicated to supporting veterans through the sport of hockey. Together they were also faithful followers of the Atlanta Rockabilly music scene, attending weekend shows and annual event such as Drive Invasion, HollyFest, Viva Las Vegas, The Rockabilly Luau, and Muddy Roots Music Festival. Scott’s love of music lead him to learn how to play the upright, or doghouse, bass. He enjoyed random moments of playing on stage with Hot Rod Walt and The Psycho DeVilles. As a member of 12Stone Church, Scott was a pioneer of the Sugarloaf Campus where he was baptized in 2013. Scott served faithfully as a member of the Production Team. Through his association with 12Stone, Scott became an enthusiastic supporter of Bearings Bike Works in Atlanta.

Scott was predeceased by his mother Gail. He leaves behind his wife Tammy Ann (Suwanee, GA), father David Norwood and stepmother Sandra Craig (Whitehall, PA), sister Ruth Ann Glose and her partner Anthony Privitera (Phoenix, AZ), nephew Scott Allen Glose (Phoenix, AZ), niece Kimberly Held and family (Ft Collins, CO), stepdaughter Kara and son-in-law Jonathan Schulte and two grandchildren LilyAnn and James (Inverness, FL), and brother-in-law Tom Enlow (Athens, GA).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel located at 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 from 11am – 1pm with Military Honors at 12pm.
