Sean Thomas Lanning, age 15, of Perry was born on June 23, 2003 and passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019.
He enjoyed playing video games, spending time outside with friends, fishing and swimming. Sean loved reading comics- his favorite characters were Calvin and Hobbs. He was well liked and loved by many. Sean was very smart and had an inquisitive mind.
He is survived by Mother, Amanda Sweaney; Father, Michael Lanning; Stepfather, Claude Sweaney; Siblings, Korrine Lanning, Anthony Lanning, Haleigh Sweaney & Amelia Lanning; Aunts & Uncles, Scott & Rebekah Madsen, Katherine Gainous, Jeremy Gainous, Christina Hensley, Shannon Aldridge, Mark & Kendra Evans; Grandparents, Roger Gainous, LeAnn & Ron Blinzler; Danny & Elizabeth Sweaney; Great Grandparents, Elaine Dixon.
The family will receive friends from 12:00- 2:00PM on Thursday, January 10, 2019 with the funeral service following at 2:00PM at Wages & Sons Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway Lawrenceville, GA 30046. 770-277-4550.
His time here was but for a moment; yet his impact on those whom knew him will be left for years. Like a drop in a pond the ripples he made here on earth will be a positive influence on many lives. He will be sorely missed.

Sean was a bright and amazing young man.
If you ever sat and had a conversation with this young man, right away you would know he was wise beyond his years. I had the pleasure of knowing him and growing to love him and his siblings. Sean became apart of my family and more importantly my heart. I will miss you dearly Sean and you will never be forgotten.
Sean… you were an amazing young man. You were so intelligent with such an old soul! It was a pleasure to have you become part of my heart. You will be missed immensely. Fly high Sean!

I remember you as a feisty and incredibly sweet kindergartner. You and I spent a lot of time together in my kindergarten class and I always thought of you as one of my favorites. I remember being so excited when I found out you had moved back to GA after being away for several years and how excited your friends were that you were back! You are an incredible person and I know you are happy and flying with the angels now. Love you little guy!
All kids leave a footprint in their teacher’s heart but Sean left so much more. He was full of life and I could tell even in first grade he was going to do great things. His smile would light up a room and always knew when you needed a hug. I thought about him often and still have his picture in my classroom because he always brought a smile to my face. He was loved dearly by many of us and will be missed! I will see him again one day and know he is no longer hurting. His amazing Aunt and Uncle, wonderful cousins and all those who loved him will be in my continued thoughts and prayers.
Sean, I really never got the chance to really know you, but I know your spirit will flow around us to help with the sadness and loneliness. My god bless your soul

hey buddieeee☺️ it’s been 4 years now… it’s been kinda lonely… i actually ran indo the jasmine girl and the one who did her own tattoos a few months back… they look the same… but me… NOOOOPE???? i miss you alot… you were the only think close to a friend i actually had in that place… you got me through a lot of it… you should come see me… if you can’t that’s okay… stick with my Uncle T… he’ll look after you… he’s amazing… i got school tmrw but i don’t wanna go… alots changed since 2019… it’s been kinda hectic but it’s okay… i’ve made some really good friends out here… i’m sure you’d love them… they’d love you too… i just hope that whoever drove you to this rots in hell for all of eternity… you deserve(d) to be happy… i just hope you find it wherever you are… ????❤️
