Ginger Colleen Shirey, born May 13, 1959 in Columbus, Georgia died June 4, 2012. Ginger graduated University School of Nashville in 1977, attended Harlaxton College in Grantham, England and graduated cum laude from University of Maryland, with a degree in Art History. She served in the U.S. Navy 1981 to 1987 where she worked at the National Security Agency. She lived in Decatur, Georgia where she was active in animal rescue and aiding the animal shelters. For several years she had belonged to the Decatur Eastern Star following in the footsteps of her grandparents. People described her as sweet, gracious, generous and caring. She will be missed. Survivors include her parents, Barbara and Terry Shirey, Sr. of Nashville, Tennessee; brother and sister-in-law, Melissa and Terry Shirey, Jr; niece, Madison Shirey; nephew, Morgan Shirey. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gladys and Theodore Shirey, and Rosa and Morgan Rogers of Columbus, Georgia.
