Janet Rockey Slavin, age 77, of Dacula passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011. She was a treasured mother, beloved grandmother, valued sister and true friend. She was born in Bellefonte, PA on November 12, 1933; she was born 9th in a family of 15 and loved to share the memories of growing up in such a large family.After briefly living in Charlotte, NC, she moved to GA in 1965, where she raised her family for years to come. In those many years, she made many true and dear friends. She retired from International Bakerage in 2000 and treasured the friendship of many of her co-workers afterwards. Her family and friends were her life. She is survived by her son, Michael and his wife, Beth of Gainesville, GA; daughters, Diane and her husband, Ken Lane of Kingwood, TX, Jackie and her husband, Lindsay Grindle of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Greer and William Hagler of Atlanta, GA; Stuart Slavin of Atlanta, GA; Seaman Brendan Lane of Yokosuka, Japan and Sara and Sean Grindle of Lawrenceville, GA; brothers and sisters, Richard J. Rockey, Barbara J. DeFurio, Marjorie A. Zeleznick, Peggy J. Roach, David L. Rockey, Delores Rockey, Stanley R. Rockey, Sandra J. Robinson and Bonnie L. Martin: and sister-in-law Rita Bowman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer & Ethel Rockey and siblings, Elmer E. Rockey, Styrl J. Rockey, Junior Lee Rockey, Maudella Rockey and Robert E. Rockey. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 1 o�clock at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville 770-277-4550. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Janet�s name can be made to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

  2. My Dad & Mother, Molly & Howard Bradford were very close friends with Janet through the years my son, Michael & Jackie were very small. Janet was always so sweet to all of us. She was there for us when my Mother passed and my Dad has always spoke so kindly of Janet. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
