Born in:
Georgetown, Guyana
Resided in:
Snellville, Georgia
Sookraj “Bones” Mangroo was born August 6th, 1937 in Georgetown, Guyana. He was the youngest of three siblings.
He immigrated to England at the age of 24. There he worked as a tailor, bus conductor, and finally retired from taxi driving in the mid-2000s. Bones was an incredibly talented, hardworking man. Outside of his jobs, he did many things around his home in Leyton. No project was too large. He painted, put up wallpaper, installed a heating system, put in double glazed windows, grew a vegetable garden and took care of all the plumbing around the house. He even did car repairs for himself and his friends.
Bones was very popular, well respected and easy to get along with. He was always happy to help a person in need and did so often. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sitting in his back garden, and of course having a pint with friends at the local pub. Bones loved his family. Though he left Guyana so many years ago, he remained in contact with his family there over the years. He loved his children very much, and his grandchildren had a very special place in his heart. He had a way of getting down on their level and connecting with them in such intimate ways. Recently Bones lost the love of his life, Lucille, after over 50 years of marriage. It was indeed a great loss, but they are finally, once again, reunited.
Bones is survived by his eldest son and wife Roy and Nandini Mangroo, his middle son and wife Alan and Belinda Mangroo, his daughter and partner Amanda Mangroo and Stuart Maslin, his grandchildren Shiv and Anu Mangroo, Sharvani Mangroo, Dominic Mangroo, Toby Mangroo and Theo Maslin .
