Stephen Ernest Herndon, age 35, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Stephen was born in Hudson, WI to Jack and Kathleen Herndon on January 30, 1982. He was the beloved middle child of three boys, and his childhood and the majority of his adulthood was spent in Lawrenceville, GA. He graduated from Central Gwinnett High School and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Gwinnett Perimeter College. He dedicated most of his career to website design. People who knew Stephen appreciated his unique sense of humor and ability to recall the smallest of life’s funny details years after they occurred. One of his greatest joys was spending time with and caring for family pets, especially his cats, Scratchy and Smokey, and his childhood dog, Irish. Stephen was very introverted, but people who connected with him enjoyed his humor and stories. He struggled with mental illness and addiction most of his life, and at the time of his death was being treated by Viewpoint of Lawrenceville, GA. Stephen made a lot of progress in his treatment, and he was beginning to open back up to his family and friends in his final days. He was last in vocational rehabilitation with Goodwill; his peers and supervisors enjoyed his work ethic and said he was a joy to work with. He is survived by his parents Kathleen (Kathy) and Jack Herndon of Lawrenceville, GA; brothers Charles (Chuck) and William (Will) Herndon of Roswell, GA; grandmother Marilyn Herndon of Gulf Breeze, FL; and grandmother Marian Radecki of Footville, WI, A service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic Church in Lawrenceville, Interment will follow at Honey Creek Woodlands in Conyers.
