Born in: Japan
Resided in: Georgia

Sume Moon Holcombe, beloved matriarch of her family, passed of natural causes on February 11, 2024 at the age of 86, with her daughter, Karen Rowe, by her side. The honoring of her memory will take place on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Wages & Sons Funeral Home, with visitation at 1:00 PM just before. She will be laid to rest directly following services.

Born on March 11, 1938 in Japan, her family soon relocated and she was raised in Korea. Her mesmerizing stories of the cultural struggles in those times live on in the memories of her loved ones and remain a true testament of the resilience and adaptability her life legacy carries.

Sume found a lifelong, undying love in a United States air traffic controller during the Vietnam War and they were married succeeding a whirlwind romance that even a language barrier could not suppress. After crossing countries to make a living in the states, they worked tirelessly to pursue their goals by operating a thriving painting business together. Eventually, both transitioned to positions at Rockwell International (now Boeing) and constructed the home of their dreams. Both her and her husband trusted in the Lord and were active members of Corinth Baptist Church.

She found her true calling in the caring and keeping of their home. Her culinary skills in the kitchen were top notch, no matter what nationality of foods she prepared. Her Thanksgiving dressing recipe remains unprecedented by all who have had the pleasure of tasting it. She cherished the family she was brought into and made it her own, territorial about it in the best way. If she loved you, there was no way you were not completely convinced of just how much. Sume embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity.

Sume is predeceased by her devoted husband, Douglas Holcombe as well as their son, Michael Holcombe. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Pete) Rowe.

Grandchildren: Christina Henry, Eric Holcombe, Catie Watts, Madison Rowe, and Michael (Lanie) Rowe.

Great Grandchildren: Kayleigh Abbott and Kelsey Lawson.
