Thomas “Tommy” Hood, age 68, passed away on February 8, 2025. Born on December 7, 1956, in Lawrenceville, GA, he leaves behind a legacy of laughter and warm memories.
Tommy was the oldest of his siblings, growing up in Cocoa Beach Florida.
He attended Cocoa Beach High School and entered the US Army in 1974, serving for four years stationed in Germany at the end of the Vietnam war. After returning home, Tommy began framing houses and would eventually found and grow a successful construction company- ATM Construction; however his craftsmanship reached far beyond the jobsite – it often seemed like there was nothing Tommy couldn’t build or fix – from rebuilding the engine of his beloved 1978 baby blue Ford truck (affectionately referred to as “Old Blue”) to tending his lush vegetable garden that fed his family for years, and so much more. Tommy loved a good project and always kept busy.
When he wasn’t working hard, he was playing hard. Tommy was a fun-loving kind of guy and was always the life of the party. He was an endless fountain of fun stories, good times, and loud laughs.
It would be remiss not to mention his legendary arm-wrestling skills. If you’ve ever spent more than a few minutes sitting at a table with him, you’ve been challenged to an arm wrestle, and you lost. It was a rite of passage.
Tommy never knew a stranger and brightened the day of anyone lucky enough to encounter him.
He was strong, generous and kind- the “give you the shirt off his back” type. To know him was to love him.
Tommy leaves behind his daughters Alexandrea Hood, Taylor Crumley (Tyler), Kayla Pollack (Dillon), and Gracie Hood, his former wife and forever friend- Michelle Hood, and his five grandchildren Cheyenne, Xander, Arabella, Sutton, and Jackson. He is also survived by his 6 younger siblings.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mamie Lyons, his sisters Donna and Denise, and his nephew Hillard Thompson.
Tommy was a caring father to his daughters, a loving “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren and a loyal friend to many. He was truly one-of-a-kind and will be missed endlessly.
