Gerald B. Thompson, born July 20, 1923, passed away January 24, 2013 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Davis Thompson. He was a graduate of Bethesda High School and a veteran of World War II serving 3-1/2 years overseas. Mr. Thompson worked for Kelly Springfield Tire, Terminal Transport, and Roadway Express. He retired from Complete Auto Transport after 26 years of service. Mr. Thompson is survived by his children, Blake A. Thompson and Teresa & Ed Platt; grandchildren, Karen Platt and Keith Platt; sister, Cleff Mays; brother & sister-in-law, Wendell & Shirley Thompson; brother-in-law, Dennis Samples; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens with Rev. Raymond Hardy officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations, in Gerald's memory, may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or the Friends of National World War II Memorial, 921 Pennsylvania Ave, SE, Suite 304, Washington, DC 20003.
