Decatur, Georgia
Resided in:
Snellville, GA
Amegie Undie passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2012 of complications resulting from autoimmune hepatitis. Amegie was born on August 12, 1989 in Decatur Georgia, to Dr. William and Emma Undie
Amegie attended St. Thomas More Catholic School and St Pius High School in Atlanta Georgia, before proceeding to Oxford College and Emory University, majoring in neuroscience and clinical psychology. During this period, Amegie showed incredible strength, tenacity and courage in her educational pursuit while battling the debilitating effect of her illness.
A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives. Although Amegie's life was cut short by death, she left an indelible mark on many people because of her involvement in various enrichment activities. Her talent and love for science, music and acting and her academic pursuits were fuelled by an intense desire to know more and to improve her skills and extend her abilities.
While at St. Thomas More, she distinguished herself in chorus activities, as well as winning awards in The Science Olympiad Regional Tournament competition, and Duke University Talent Identification program for gifted children. At St Pius High School, Amegie played prominent roles in the Pius Players and made the Honor roll numerous times and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Singing in the Corpus Christi Catholic Church children's choir was Amegie's passion, along with acting in plays organized by the church such as the "Sound of Music" and "Peter Pan".
Amegie volunteered her talent many times as a counselor in the Atlanta Young Singers summer camp at Cloudland Georgia, mentoring aspiring young singers. She also volunteered her time tutoring math and english to children from under privileged families while she attended oxford college
With confidence and self-esteem beyond her years, Amegie was happy to laugh at herself at times. She had a wonderful sense of humor and her laughter and fun-filled personality kept her friends laughing hysterically. The hearts of those most dear to Amegie are breaking because they are filled to the brim with the love she inspired. There are no trophies or medals to represent this love, yet it is without a doubt Amegie's greatest achievement.
No one could have predicted the tragedy that took Amegie's life; it is as if she lived her life like someone who understands that time is precious. She learned, laughed and loved with all the energy she could muster. There were no wasted moments but a life that, though brief, was full and remarkable. To everyone here today I thank you for the opportunity to offer these words in celebration of a wonderful young girl, Amegie Undie.
Amegie is survived by her parents, Dr. William and Emma Undie; siblings- Ashley and Jonathan; grandmother- Eucharia Adie; several uncles, aunts, nieces and cousins
Her memories will be cherished forever.
Emma and family words cannot express how sorry I am for the loss of your daughter. I will continue to pray that God will hold you and comfort you.
I am so sorry for your loss. I want Amegie’s family to know the love, friendship, and happiness that she spread through the Oxford College campus. It one was one that she carried through her time at the Emory Campus as well. She was an amazing woman with a beautiful beautiful soul. You are in our thoughts and prayers, and are supported by all of her Oxford College family.
I wanted to let you all know that the folks here at Oxford College are thinking about you and remembering Amegie fondly. I was not here when she was a student at Oxford, so I missed getting to know her. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. – Rev. Lyn Pace

I taught computer to Amegie for all her years at St. Thomas More School. What a bright light she was and always be! She was unfailingly kind and funny and her intelligence always shone forth. The world is poorer for Amegie’s absence from it and Heaven so much richer.
When Amegie came over to pick up Jonathan from our house, i will always remember talking to Amegie, in my driveway. I was so impressed at what a special young lady, she was, and what a bright future was waiting for her. I will always remember watching he,r watch her brother play basketball, and how excited she was when Johnathan scored a basket, the pride was written all over her face! I am so sorry for the loss.
I was saddened to hear of Amegie’s death. I knew her durning her time as a student at Oxford. The Oxford community and the Alumni Office staff send our condolences to her family and friends. She will be missed and we are better for knowing her.
For us, Amegie was a beautiful person who lit up the room wherever she went. She had a caring nature and a passion for life that was contagious. Our favorite part about her was her laughter. Whenever she was around she had the ability not only to make us laugh but to keep us smiling. We will not forget her impact on us. May she rest in peace and our prayers and condolences to her family.
We are grateful for the wonderful impact that Amegie had on the Oxford community. She touched the lives of many people and will not be forgotten. All at Oxford who had the chance to know her are lucky to have been a part of her life. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
Ashley and family, we are so sorry for your loss. I had seen Amegie pick Ashley up a few times from St Pius X, but did not meet her until one evening last summer, when she brought Stephanie and Caroline all the way from Snellville to meet me in Duluth. My girls had stayed at the Undies for a couple of days, and had a wonderful time, with Amegie driving them around. She was clearly a kind soul and heaven has gained an angel. We are praying for you during this difficult time.
Amegie inspired us to laugh more, dream bigger, reach out to help others, focus on the positive…and live each day to it’s fullest. Emma, William, Ashley and Jonathon, you are in our prayers.

Our son was in the children’s choir with Amegie. Janet has been in the adult choir at Corpus Christi. We share Amegie’s love of voice. We will keep your family in our prayers, especially during this sad time.
May Christ’s love continue to comfort you
In recalling so many wonderful times with Meg’s friends at St Thomas More School, it is always Amegie’s smile and signature chuckle that stands out. The whole Undie family is such a special one, and we share your grief in losing your eldest lovely daughter.
I am too saddened to learn of the untimely death of Amegie Undie. She was a wonderful girl. I had the pleasure of meeting her at the Transplant Clinic at Emory. I was one of the ladies who checked her in several times. She was so pleasant and well spoken. When I would look among the people she was always reading or listening to music. She had a nice smile in addition to a funny chuckle. I wish her family much support through this transition. I know she is in heaven smiling down with her bright smile.
