William Leland Waterman Mr.

William (Bill) Waterman, 73, of Rockingham, NC, passed away on December 1, 2014 in his sleep. There will be a private, memorial in Rockingham, NC, at a date to be determined. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Wages and Sons in Lawrenceville, GA. Bill was born in Los Angeles, California on July 17, 1941. He graduated from Lutheran High School in Los Angeles. Bill was married to Patricia Ruth Waterman (Maack) on February 11, 1961; they were married 53 years. Bill worked for Western Publishing for 16 years. He bought the Dairy Queen in Rockingham, NC in 1985. He enjoyed running the Dairy Queen, working with the many employees and being known around town as the "ice cream man." Besides the Dairy Queen, Bill loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his adult children and grandchildren. Bill is survived by his Wife, Patricia Waterman, two children, Lance L Waterman and his wife Annie, Kimberley Waterman; his 5 grandchildren Tyler, Taylor, Cameron, Aaron and Parker; his brother, Jim Waterman and sister in law Marcia, his sister in law Carole Huckfeldt, brother in law, Dale Maack and wife Linda Maack and his nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William V Waterman and Dorthy Waterman. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Wounded Warrior project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org. The donations would be in memorial of Bill but in honor of his brother Jim Waterman, who served and was wounded in Vietnam.
