Zelica Wynne Dalton, known affectionately as Ann, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, at the age of 96 in Dacula, Georgia. Born on February 26, 1928, in Dare, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Alpheus Smith and Lucy Wynne Smith.
She is predeceased by her husband, Lewis Clyde Dalton and her two sons: Lewis Ronald Dalton and Harry Wayne Dalton. She is also predeceased by her sisters: Emily “Memmie” Newby, Mary Lou Gould and Mable Insley, and her brothers: William Smith and Harry Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Dalton Perkinson of Dacula, Georgia, and her grandchildren: Jason Perkinson of Morgantown, West Virginia; and Heather Mangum of Dacula, Georgia, and her great grandchildren: Hayden and Maddox Mangum, and her namesake, Zelica Perkinson.
Ann dedicated much of her life to her family as a loving stay-at-home mom. She also had brief professional stints at DuPont and the ladies’ wear department at LaVogue in Richmond, Virginia. Her devotion to her family was paralleled by her commitment to community service. In Richmond, Virginia, she was an active member of the Woodmen of the World alongside her husband and served as her son Wayne’s cub scout leader. Ann also contributed her time to Meadowbrook High School’s Band Boosters Club, working concessions during football games. After moving to Texas, she volunteered for many years at the Carrollton Senior Center, where she also served on the Advisory Board. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Carrollton, Texas.
A service to honor Ann’s life will be held at 12 Stone Church, Lawrenceville Campus, located at 1322 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30519, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in the Cornerstone Theater at 4 PM. A short time of fellowship will follow the service. The arrangements are being handled by Wages & Sons Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville, Georgia. Ann’s legacy of kindness and dedication to her family and community will be kindly remembered by all who knew her.
