Alice Jane Hoke Zimmerman, age 82, passed away at Altus Hospice on December 21, 2011. She was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania on September 13, 1929 to Sarah Hoffeditz Hoke and J. Leroy Hoke and was raised on a farm near Upton. She worked as a medical technologist before her marriage to Ray Zimmerman in 1952. In 1969 they moved to Dunwoody, Georgia where she was active in Kingswood United Methodist Church and in the Dekalb Highlands neighborhood association. She fulfilled her dream of being a college graduate when she completed her degree at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta in the mid 1970's. She loved gardening, sewing, taking care of children, and often babysat with the neighborhood children. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Raymond S. Zimmerman, and her children, Judy Zimmerman-Reisch, her husband John Reisch, of N. Kingstown, RI; Susan Z. Volentine of Marietta, GA; and David C. Zimmerman, his wife Joann, of Waldwick, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sean and Angela Reisch; Rachel, Scott, and Melissa Volentine; and David C. Zimmerman II, his wife Banner, and their children, Madison, Nalanie, and Trevor. She is also survived by her brothers, John Hoke of State College, PA; Paul Hoke of St. Thomas, PA; and Aaron Hoke of Wells, ME. She was predeceased by her sister Pauline Hoke Wilson of Jamestown, NY. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30 at 11:00 A.M. at Kingswood United Methodist Church. The service will be officiated by Senior Pastor, Rev. Brian Dale.
