November 11, 1932 ~ August 2, 2022

Born in: Manchester, Georgia
Resided in: Atlanta, Georgia

Carolyn Juanita “Nita” Weldon Huddleston passed away peacefully on the morning of August 2, 2022, at the age of 89. Born and raised in Manchester, Georgia, Nita traveled to Atlanta at the age of sixteen to attend nursing school, which she completed at what was then Georgia Baptist Hospital. She worked for much of her life as a registered nurse, first cherishing her role in Labor and Delivery at the hospital and then working faithfully in private practice until her retirement.

Outside of her career, Nita was an excellent gardener, devoted solver of jigsaw puzzles, and above all, a caring, generous and loving mother and grandmother. She was recognized by every person in her life as genuine, compassionate, and always ready to help someone in need. She dedicated her time for over 20 years as a volunteer counselor at MARR, an addiction rehab program in the Atlanta area and was more than once recognized as “volunteer of the year”.

Nita is survived by her three children: Bud Huddleston of Tucker, GA, Becky Pinkston of Savannah, GA, and Beth Huddleston of Troutdale, OR; her two brothers: Alfred Weldon of Atlanta, GA and Avery Weldon of Marietta, GA; and her three dear grandchildren: Connor and Olivia Huddleston of Atlanta, GA, and Alex Pinkston of Savannah, GA.

A family and close friends memorial service will be held for Nita at a date yet to be determined. She had requested that donations be made to The Lewy Body Dementia Association in lieu of flowers.

Guestbook

  1. Nita was a unique, thoughtful, and gracious person.
We always thought of her as a chosen member of our family.
    She will be missed.

    Sammy and Patty Harmon

  2. Nita and our mother, Edwena, were roommates at GBH School of Nursing and became lifelong friends. Our mother passed from Lewy Body dementia in June 2016 and Nita had been a good friend to our father since then….we are so sad to learn of Nita’s passing but we are relieved that she suffers from this hideous disease no more. I’m sure she and Mom are having a great catchup in Heaven, and we all live for the day when we will all be together again.
Bud, Becky and Beth – our sincerest sympathies from the Bagley family…..Richard, Melanie, Susan and Laurie. We loved your mama, too!
