April 19, 1951 ~ May 6, 2021

Born in: New Orleans, LA
Resided in: Monroe, GA

Jesus came to rescue Claudia Moore Switzer, known as “Beth”, May 6, 2021, and take her to be with him in Heaven. She was 70 years old. She resided in Monroe, Georgia with her husband Doug Switzer.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, April 19, 1951, to Ted and Elaine Moore. She grew up in Stone Mountain, Georgia, with three sisters, Gloria, Carol, and Teddi. She graduated Clarkston High School in 1969 and Dekalb Junior College in 1971. She participated in multiple clubs and cheerleading both in high school and college. She married her high school sweetheart Doug Switzer on November 19, 1971. In November, they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

She worked in an insurance office and as a dental assistant until they bought a house in Snellville, Georgia, in 1975, and started their family. She was a caring housewife and loving mother to three surviving children, Alyson Switzer Wages, John Douglas Switzer, and Mark Joshua Switzer. She worked part time at Northeast Atlanta Christian School as a physical education teacher and lunchroom monitor while her children attended.

During her young to middle adult years, she and her dear friends, Betty Hodges, Karen Fisher, and Georgia Smith were passionate members of Mothers on the March and Prolife Ministries. They additionally formed a group to help unwed mothers find ways to overcome difficult life trials so they might keep their babies or give them up for adoption. These four ladies, among others, sacrificed much of their free time to help scared pregnant women find ways they might build their lives as they desired. Many of these ladies also came to know Jesus as their savior through this group.

She became a grandmother to Jossalyn Angeles Switzer in 2006. Along came Savannah Sky Smith, Bruce Wesley Wages, and Ava Elizabeth Wages. She was known by her grandchildren as “G”. But one small little letter could no way represent such a gigantic grandmotherly personality. She was intimately involved in each of their lives from watching sports, to planning events and trips, to even being a full or part-time daytime sitter to Jossalyn, Bruce, and Ava. They all four consider their “G” as their dear friend, way more than just a grandmother.

She found her Lord Jesus as an early adult and shared the light he gave her all around. As a niece recently stated, “Please tell her, ‘thank her for glowing with the light of Jesus at all times!” As another niece recently stated, “She was always so welcoming, loving, and accepting to me and all others.” Her marriage with Doug was an example for all to observe as a most loving and affectionate reflection of how a Christian marriage can be so joyous. She was a long term member and active participant at Rehoboth Baptist Church for 30+ years and moved to 12stone Church in 2008.

Her favorite hobbies and past times included extensive traveling, painting, pottery, cooking and just as much as all combined, eating! Everyone she loved had eaten delicious meals she prepared in which she served up with so much love! Her dear friend described it perfectly, “To me, Beth was Faith, Family, Friends, Food and Fun!”

Although all of us you touched through your amazing life will miss you more than you could ever imagine here on earth, we know you have been healed in Heaven and are at peace with our Lord. As her husband, Doug, recently stated, “well done thy good and faithful servant, … now go be at peace!”

  5. Beth was the very first person we met when we arrived at our new house in Monroe in 2006. She immediately made us feel at home. We couldn’t have selected better next door neighbors than Doug and Beth. They were a blessing from God for 15 years! Beth was a wonderful person who epitomized what a faithful Christian role model should be. She taught us all how to be courageous in the face of adversity. We will miss you, Beth. Our deepest sympathy and love to Doug and the entire Switzer family.

She connected me with her group of friends and began praying for me despite what she herself was enduring. I am so grateful to have known her and I saw first hand her unwavering faith in God. What an incredible inspiration she has been to me and so many! Her presence on this Earth will be missed. With deepest sympathy for your loss,
