Alva Bud E. Halcome

Alva E. Halcome, of Monroe, Georgia, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at his home. He was born January 10, 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late David Lanier Halcome and Nora Williams Halcome. Mr. Halcome was Korean War Veteran and retired from Greyhound Lines, Inc. He was an avid golfer. Mr. Halcome was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Henry Lanier Halcome and Harold Lamar Halcome. He is survived by his wife, Lil; son, Russ and wife, Vickie; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Chris of Lawrenceville; and sister, Jenny Woodruff of Fayetteville. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, January 15, 2011 at New Hope at Between UMC, 2085 New Hope Church Road at Hwy 78, Monroe, GA, with the Rev. Andrew Irwin officiating. The family will receive friends at the church at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the New Hope at Between UMC at the above address.
