I thank you, Iris, for raising a beautiful, strong, ethical, Christian woman. She is a dear friend to me. She has always respected & loved you. Heidi has taught me a great deal, and I know that I owe so much of that to you and the great wisdom that you imparted on her. Because I have great faith, I know where you are, Iris. You were a wonderful woman of God. To Heidi, Jill, Josh and family – you are in my prayers. This loss is great and my prayers will not cease. She will live in you and in your sweet children forever. I thank God for His eternal home.

  18. Sweet friends,
I have followed this journey you have been on through Facebook, phone calls and texts. I have prayed for all of you and each of you at different turns. Through it all I know that your Mom is whole, complete and happy with our Savior. As a little girl she has taught me Biblical truth, she has been an example of a strong, godly woman to me, and I can remember spending the night and playing and her loving me as your friend. She was a great Mom. She fought a hard fight. She leaves her greatest legacy here in you. As hard as it is to mourn, I rejoice in knowing her destination has been reached and she is at peace waiting for us. Love you.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Matthew5:4

  19. You are her “mini me”. She was loved and cared for in such a way that there’s no doubt about the love you guys shared. Mom will always be with you. Her spirit lives on inside of you. You’ll catch glimpses of her each time you pass the mirror. Now she’s watching you with angel eyes.

  20. Dear Ones,
I am so sorry and very sad. Iris was a long time friend , since 1963. When l saw her name on the flight list it made me smile. We always had fun.
She loved you children so very much and, of course, your Dad. Being a Grandmother ,we decided, was Gods special gift.
Knowing her has been a pleasure.
    God bless you all.

  24. I’m so very sorry for your loss. I flew with her and from the very beganing I thought she was the most beautiful stewardess I’d ever seen. And the beauty was also inside her. Your family is in my prayers – you will see her again.

  25. My dear Larry, Heidi, Jill and Josh: I think that you know my heart is broken with the passing of your dear wife and mother and my beloved friend, Iris..She was a person who truly felt more like a sister and I am so very sorry for your great loss.We shared so much together over the last 50 years and I am honored beyond measure for the gift of her friendship. She adored you all and those precious grandchildren just made her life more complete. We shared a lot of things through the years about God and Heaven. I was so encouraged by her deep faith and trust in Him that , “no matter what happened, she had peace.” Prayers for you all and love unending.May the blessed Hope that was in her, and is now fully realized , be the Hope that sustains you..Until then.

  26. Larry, Heidi, Jill, and Josh: I was so sorry to read of the passing of Iris in the Rockdale paper this week. Even though I’ve not seen her in many years, I have very fond memories of her. She was always such a sweet person and always treated me like I was one of her own. She was a lovely lady inside and out. I will keep each of you in my prayers during this very sad time.

  27. I first flew with Iris in early 1963 and always enjoyed working a flight with this very “special” lady. She loved being a stewardess and she loved her passengers and served them with such a sweetness about her. We have “blessed assurance” that we will see her again. May God wrap his loving arms around you all with His peace and comfort.

  28. I grieve for me (and the family) but rejoice that Iris is in the presence of her precious Savior! Iris, I love you and miss you, my friend!

  33. I love my mom and miss her everyday. It warms my heart to read each message as to how she touched you life please continue….It is so much a blessing…Jill one of her daughters.

  34. Iris and I were neighborhood friends in “west end”. She had a nickname Shenna of the jungle because of her long thick beautiful hair. We got into a lot, but escaped from exposure(mostly) for our wild and crazy escapades!. We had big plans to stay together but we lost touch. Just reading these notes under her obituary I realized I missed out on a lot! The pictures were beautiful of her and the family, but I was mostly fascinated by her beauty and how she had not aged. All the remarks I read about her were sincere and full of love and compliments. Sure wish we had been able to live next door to each other, it would have been a dream! love and prayers, Bobbi Butler, class of 59 Brown highschool

  35. Jilly, i just read your note above mine, I was hoping yall were still checking this page. I have tears knowing how much I know you must miss her. I miss my mom and she died in 2000. Glad you have all the sweet words from her friends. With all my love Bobbi
