Born in: New Castle, PA
Resided in: Lawrenceville, GA

Joy Audrene (Sherer) Gray of Lawrenceville, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, at the age of 72. Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Joy moved to Georgia in 1983. Soon after relocating, Joy began work as an office manager in real estate, diligently carving out a new life for herself and her two children, Terri and Cory. After years of dedicated service, she would bring her career as office manger to a close, retiring from Dorsey Alston Realtors in 2014. Although her demeanor was quiet and soft-spoken, she could easily disarm with a funny quip - made even more humorous with one of her animated looks. Known for her tremendous character and effortless grace, Joy was - in the truest sense - a woman with impeccable class. Her absence will leave an indelible mark on all who knew and loved her. Joy was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Ellen (Terry) DeVinney; father, Carl Sherer; beloved mother-in-law, Dorothy Gray and Cousin Carol Buzzelli. She is survived by her daughter, Terri (Gray) Miller; son, Cory (Gray) Spencer and son-in-law, Dexter Spencer, grandchildren, Griffin Miller, Carly Miller, Justin Gray; sister, Candace "Candy" Sherer; brother and sister-in-law, Wally and Cindy Sherer; mother-in-law Suzanne Sherer; nieces, Laura Borden, Caroline Reed, Melinda Rogers; as well as special friends, Nancy Orrico and June Wardman. A Memorial Service for Joy will be held on June 24th, 2018 / 2:00 pm at Hope Memory Care Center activities room, 1200 Winder Highway, Dacula, GA 30019.

  1. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family of Joy Gray. She brought Joy to us all at Dorsey Alston. Kathy McLean

  2. My prayers go out to Joy’s family. She was one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever known.
I worked with her for several years and always considered her a great friend.
    She will be missed!

  3. Terri and Cory, my deepest condolences. .Your mother was a treasured friend and co worker for almost 30 years. She was one of the finest people I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. Joy was deeply loved by the many people with whom she worked and whose lives she made richer. I cherish her memory and will be forever grateful for the joy she brought to my life. I loved her dearly, and will keep you both in my prayers. I wish you God’s peace. Joy’s was a life well lived.

  9. I’m sad to hear of your Mom’s passing. She was thoroughly delightful, professional, and engaging (with a sly wit and sweet smile). I didn’t realize until now that she was born near where I was born…wish I could go back to talk to her about that part of Pennsylvania and tell her how much we have missed her. She was such a lovely person.

  10. My deepest sympathy to all the family – she will be missed! I have so many wonderful memories from the 40 plus years of our friendship that are so precious and I feel fortunate that we were on our journey together. She was an awesome friend! I will miss her but am so glad she is no longer in misery…

  11. Dear Friend, I pray you have found the peace and comfort you deserve. I will miss you and always cherish our years of friendship. There will be an empty spot I my heart and in the hearts of many others because you are no longer with us. Sleep well my friend. Until we meet again. Love June
