Lillie Belle Smith Brodnax, 80, of Stone Mountain, Georgia passed away Monday, June 22, 2015. She will be greatly missed in her roles as loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She never met a stranger and was well known for the hugs she spread everywhere she went. She is preceded in death by her husband Billy Brodnax Jr., her brother J.V. Smith, and her parents John and Lida Smith. She is survived by her brother J.W. and Gaye Smith; her devoted children Susan and Don Brown, Bo and Janie Brodnax, June Brown, Jeff Brodnax, and Mary Adams; her loving grandchildren Donny Brown Jr., Debbie Beard, Billy and Tassa Brodnax, Tabitha Brodnax, Russell and Lisa Brown, Adam and Sarah Brown, Raquel and Thad Lanier, Jeffrey and Erica Brodnax, Allison and Tomas Banegas, Jimmy Adams Jr, Jason Adams, Jason and Erin Drakeford, and Rhonda and Joey Karafa; her awesome great grandchildren Ryan Beard, Hunter Brown, Kaylee Brodnax, Logan Hoenig, Blake Hoenig, Liam White, Lily White, Brody Brown, Piper Brown, Lincoln Brown, Lainey Lanier, Anna Banegas-Brodnax, Sasha Banegas-Brodnax, Thomas Banegas-Brodnax, Caleb Brodnax, Penny Drakeford, with a boy and a girl on the way; niece Tina and Rob Kaler, and Caroline Dursun Johnson; nephews Terry and Debbie Smith, and Joey Smith. She was a dedicated member of Mountain Park First Baptist Church for over 50 years and was retired as a mail carrier from the Stone Mountain Post Office. Family will receive guests on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 and Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00. Funeral will be Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Wages and Sons Chapel in Stone Mountain, Ron Everett Officiating.

  1. Belle will be missed but I know we will see her soon. We always enjoyed the love she would share when we would visit and talk with her. We know she is able to watch over all of us. She is telling everybody in Heaven how wonderful a family she has and proudly showing you all to everyone. God bless all of you and know that you are loved.

    So sorry for your loss. Mom and Lillie Bell were great friends and when Mom was sick she always had time to come visit her before she passed. I know you all will miss her, we will keep you in our prayers.

  11. I have known Lillie Belle for 38 years and have always been treated as one of her girls. Love this LADY very much and she will be truly missed. Her daughter Susan is my best friend and our prayers go out to her and all of her family.

  12. Lillie Belle was one of the first people we met when we joined Mountain Park several years ago (no surprise). The church sure has been missing her. She was so good about greeting everyone with genuine love and she was so young at heart. She’s having a blast in Heaven. Her influence lives on.

  19. Mrs. Lillie Belle was a dear lady with a great love for Jesus, her family, and her church. She was so precious to encourage me and the children of Mountain Park FBC, and we were all warmed by her hugs and loving smile. She has been missed for quite some time since she has been physically unable to attend church. May God cover you with His peace and grace as you grieve your loss.

  20. Oh Dear Lady, I will miss those hugs and smiles you always blessed me with. Even on the worst days you always brought a smile to my face. remembering things from my parents ( Leon and Polly Carswell ) your husband past, and all the good times. Your beautiful i thought grandchildren though it may have been you great grandchildren and the funny stories of their lives. I pray the Lord will bless her family with peace knowing there were plenty of people from Stone Mountain waiting on her with open arms. God has her in his arms but we will all have her in our hearts.
