Lillie Mae Lastinger, known to her loved ones as Mae and Mommie Mae, peacefully passed away on August 14, 2023, at the age of 95 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Mae was born on October 10, 1927, in Tifton, Georgia, to her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Mixon.

Mae was a remarkable woman, known for her unwavering kindness and unselfishness. She possessed a strong strength, one that was rooted in her deep faith and guided by the teachings of God. Mae’s gentle spirit and loving nature were evident in every aspect of her life. She never spoke ill of others, always choosing to see the good in everyone she encountered. Her heart was filled with love, compassion, and a genuine desire for peace.

Throughout her life, Mae found joy in her closeness with her family through laughter, love, dance, sewing relationships, and embracing every moment. She lived her life in accordance with God’s word, exemplifying the values of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Mae’s legacy of love and grace will forever be cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mae’s preceded by her beloved husband Robert(Bob) Lastinger III and oldest child her daughter Sherry Dunn. Mae is survived by her three sons, Jimmy, Carroll, and Richard, and their respective wives, Melissa, Nicole, and Lynda (Lastinger). She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren: Laurie Linville, Holly Neely, Lindsey Dodrill, Shayne, AJ, Christian, Caitlin, Brittany (Lastinger), James Post, Robert, Benjamin, and Jacquelyn (Lastinger). Additionally, Mae leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Jennie Attaway, Ava Neely, Ansley Neely, Aubry Dodrill and Jonathan Dodrill. She is also survived by her nephews, Johnny Mixon, Jimmy Mixon, Jay Lastinger, Shawn Lastinger, and her niece, Michelle Murray, as well as her brother-in-law and wife, James and Barbara Lastinger.

A celebration of Mae’s life will be held at Wages and Sons Funeral Home in downtown Stone Mountain, Georgia. Visitation will take place on Thursday evening, August 17, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Wages and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Stone Mountain on August 18, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Following the service, a graveside service will immediately follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Snellville, Georgia.

Mae’s life was a testament to love, compassion, and the pursuit of peace. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
