Opal Garmon, age 94, of Stone Mountain, GA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 1, 2022.
Born in Gwinnett County on Friday January 6, 1928, she was the oldest of six children. She was the daughter of the late Reese and Kate Hewatt. She was married to John Garmon for 60 years. She retired from Continental Insurance after 42 years in January 1990. She was a member of the Memorial Lighthouse Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Opal loved visiting with friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Reese and Kate Hewatt, of Stone Mountain, GA Husband John Garmon, of Stone Mountain, GA. Sisters in Law, Sarah Hewatt of Stone Mountain, GA, Kathleen Hewatt of Loganville, GA. Brother Linwoood “Wink” Hewatt, of Stone Mountain, GA. Brothers in Law Reuben Mobley and Harold Everett of Stone Mountain, GA.
She is survived by her Sisters Eugenia Everett and Julia Mobley of Stone Mountain, Brothers Billy Hewatt of Loganville, Charles (Becky) Hewatt of Dawsonville, GA. Along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12pm Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Wages and Sons Stone Mountain Chapel, 1040 Main Street Stone Mountain, GA 30083 with Paul Pittard officiating.
Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memory Garden 3594 US-78 W Snellville, GA. The following will serve as pallbearers, Steven Everett, Brad Fulford, Dwayne Hewatt, Russell Hewatt, Larry Hewatt, Josh Hall.
The family will receive friends at Wages and Sons Stone Mountain Chapel from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
