Raymond Jerome “Jerry” Retter, 86, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2021, after having been surrounded earlier by his family. He was born on June 18, 1934, in Dayton, OH. He moved his family to Georgia in 1974.
He is survived by his wife Donna, daughters Linda Retter, Tina Windham (Terry), Cheryl Allen (Steve), Renee Streng (Roger) and his son Matthew Retter (Meredith), along with 11 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren. He worked as an engineer in the paper and pulp industry for over 55 years. In his retirement years, he used his engineering and drafting skills to make beautifully detailed birdhouses, build planter stands, model airplanes, etc. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially the water, whether it was boating around the lake or cruising the oceans of the world with his loving wife of 64 years.
The family will hold a memorial service on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 1 o’clock in the afternoon, at Bethany Baptist Church, 2306 Bethany Church Road, Snellville, GA 30039. Rev. Terry Windham will officiate. Flowers may be delivered to Bethany Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 16, by 12 noon. All are welcome to attend.
