Richard Lee Staten, Jr., of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the age of 72.

Rich was born in Scioto County, OH on May 29th 1947.  He was raised in Portsmouth, OH and attended Lindsey Wilson College and The University of Ohio before relocating to Atlanta in 1971.  It was in Atlanta where he met his loving wife, Patti, who he married on August 19, 1972, at Dunwoody Methodist Church in Dunwoody, GA .  His son and only child, Blake, was born on May 18, 1983.  He enjoyed watching and coaching Blake throughout his years playing sports, fishing at the lake, traveling with his friends and family, and was an active member at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Lilburn, GA.  Rich worked in sales and the wholesale distribution industry, retiring in 2012.  On February 21, 2016, his granddaughter, Chandler, was born, and on April 12, 2018, his grandson, Charlie.  The four years spent with his grandchildren were his happiest.  He enjoyed taking them to movies, the park and the beach.

Rich is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Staten of Lilburn, Georgia, his son, Blake Staten of Atlanta, GA, his granddaughter, Chandler Staten of Atlanta, GA, his grandson, Charlie Staten of Atlanta, GA, his sister, Debbie Smith of Marietta, GA, and his niece Britni Rothwell of Marietta, GA.

  4. The Statens were one of the first families to welcome us to Hanarry West when we moved there in 1983. We have so many fond memories of Patti, Rich, and Blake as we watched our children grow up together. Our deepest sympathy to all of you at this sad time.
