Robert C. Smith Jr., aged 92, of Stone Mountain, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Hog Mountain community on Monday December 14, 1931, he was the son of the late Robert Calvin Smith and Eula V. Fowler Smith.
Robert dedicated over 50 years of his life to Scottdale Mills before retiring. He was a man of many talents and passions, with a love for hunting, fishing, gardening, and working on his neighbors’ automobiles. His strong hands also shaped his career as a master carpenter. Robert was a member of the Lawrenceville Church of God.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Elizabeth Biffle Smith; his daughters, Elaine (John) Puckett of Dallas, GA, and Penny (Bill) Halabi of Winder, GA; his grandchildren, Saleem (Dianna) Halabi and Ryan (Leslie) Halabi; and his great-grandchildren, Alexander, Nicholas, Nora, and Ethan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Wages and Sons Stone Mountain Chapel, with Dr. Dan Parker officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 PM at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, Georgia.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Wages and Sons Stone Mountain Chapel.
