Roos van Leeuwen
January 1, 1939 ~ August 29, 2022
Roos van Leeuwen of Lawrenceville, Ga passed away on August 29, 2022, at age 83. Roos is survived by her children Nina (Sam) Stone, Dean and Michele van Leeuwen; her grandchildren Jonathan (Amber) Watts, Ashleigh and Nicole Stone, Chase and Summer van Leeuwen and Angelina Dorsino; her great grandchildren Logan✝ and Tristan Watts and Anthony Young. Her siblings Louise (Tony✝) Skinner, Piet (Susy) Bardoul, Jan✝ (Marianne✝) Bardoul, Riet (Klaas✝) Rubingh, Frits (Irene) Bardoul, Kees (Marianne) Bardoul, Paula (Jaap✝) Admiraal, Ed (Rita) Bardoul and Toepie✝ Bardoul and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Johannes Bardoul and Paula Loffeld.
Born on January 1, 1939, she grew up in Heerlen, The Netherlands. She immigrated to the United States in 1965 where she made her home in Doraville, Ga. Although she was quite homesick in the beginning, she made lifelong friends and helped found The Atlanta Holland Club. She went on to start a small import business, Food and Things, and a small restaurant, The Wooden Shoe, in Lawrenceville, Ga. She was also a long-time sales associate for Rich’s/Macy’s until her retirement in 2001.
Roos was an avid tennis player, remaining active well into her retirement years. She was a sun worshipper who enjoyed a swim in the pool and loved the beach. She started her day with a strong cup of coffee and ended it with a good glass of wine. She loved to entertain and spend time with close friends. Her favorite thing to do was to spoil her grandchildren and play with her great grandchildren. Roos was staunchly loyal and ever elegant; she loved her family fiercely and unconditionally and was a forever friend who will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

I’m so sorry to hear about Roos. She was so statuesque, beautiful, wonderful sense of humor and a smile that made you always smile back. Can’t tell you how many times she brought her famous rum balls to Macys… by the end of the day, we were all feeling tipsy!! She would tell me about holland and her trips to different places. Rest In Peace my friend, you were loved by many. ❤️
